I have wanted to do a work like this for quite some time. I have a pretty vivid memory of being a kid walking to school and approaching a light pole. I'm sure I approached many light poles in my life but somehow I remember THIS approach and passing as if I were crossing a line into a new space. I feel a little this way each time I visit Seattle as it as a space evolves.

"begin" serves as a marking point of a beginning. We all have beginnings every moment of every day and each is an opportunity to shift directions, to try something new, to observe.
